Abstract

Thigh splints were described relatively recently and are an overuse injury of the adductor muscles which appear to be more common in shorter females. The case presents a young female who rapidly accelerated a weight-lifting program and developed bilateral proximal femoral pain which was suspected of being due to stress fractures. Plain film radiography was unremarkable. Bone scintigraphy however showed an unusual linear pattern of uptake in both femora which was diagnosed as thigh splints.
