Abstract
Mechanical dysfunction of the sacroiliac joints may be driven by injury to the joint or abnormalities of the thoracoabdominal muscle sequencing. Treatment relies on neuroplasticity and re-establishing normal sequencing by re-training muscle activation. Real-time ultrasound (RTUS) is a key physiotherapy strategy in teaching patients to activate the core muscles that are dysfunctional in order to establish optimal function and pain control.
