Abstract
The pattern and type of injury changes in the elderly athlete. Fundamental alterations in physiology with ageing predispose more towards soft tissue injury, particularly in the lower limbs. One of the great dangers is from motor vehicle accidents in that group of older athletes who participate in endurance sports such as jogging or bicycle riding.
