Abstract
Spine fusion surgery is performed for instability, spondylolisthesis, degenerative disc disease, and recurrent disc herniation. Fusion surgery aims to eliminate segmental motion and resulting symptoms such as pain. This chapter introduces the concepts of spine fusion surgery and the possible complications that may be a cause of persistent or recurrent pain after surgery.
