Definition

Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium states that the relative frequency of different kind of genes in the gene pool of a large randomly mating population remain constant from generation to generation when no evolutionary forces operate such as natural selection, mutation, and gene flow.

Understanding the Hardy-Weinberg Law

Let us assume a panmictic population having allele A and a. Its numerical proportion in the population out of 100% is described in Table 1.
