Kingdom of the Two Sicilies (Regno Delle Due Sicilie) – state in southern Italy, which existed in 1816–1861 and created by the unification of the Neapolitan and Sicilian kingdoms. It was the largest in the territory of the states of the Apennine Peninsula. Its area was approximately 112,000 km2. In 1860 the population was 8.7 million people. It had its own currency. The name “Kingdom of Naples” was often unofficially applied to the United Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. The capital of the country was Naples, and the ruling dynasty was the Bourbons of Naples. The form of government is an absolute monarchy. As a result of Risorgimento (the process of unification of Italy) became part of Italy.
