From a business perspective, gender diversity represents the heterogeneousness of a workforce in terms of gender, including that of top management and the board of directors. Gender occupational segregation is a phenomenon which is present in most countries, regardless of economic conditions and the existence of anti-discrimination laws that ensure full citizenship for women. However, the presence of women in positions of power and decision-making in organizations and in public and private institutions is virtually nonexistent. Most analysts agree that organizational dynamics are the main obstacle to the career advancement of women and that these are still dominated by androcentric values that exclude them from decision-making. This still does not solve the problem of reconciling work with privacy.
