Histopathologically, melanocytes are randomly arranged as solitary units within the epidermis, mimicking the histopathologic features of acral melanoma (b, c). However, the overall histopathologic structure is symmetrical and regular, and the proliferation of melanocytes is mostly limited to the lower portion of the epidermis (b).
