Differential location of neoplastic melanocytes at the dermo-epidermal junction in early acral melanoma and acral nevus. In early acral melanoma on the palms and soles, increased numbers of solitary arranged melanocytes are mainly located in the epidermal rete ridges underlying the surface ridges (a: circles).
