Mission Statement (2020)

The American Psychological Association’s Division 33 on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities/Autism Spectrum Disorder (IDD/ASD) is a professional organization that has the mission of advancing psychological research, professional education, and clinical services that address the needs and increase the quality of life of individuals with IDD/ASD across the lifespan.

Some of the goals that drive our work include:

  • Promoting social justice and inclusivity through our clinical work, research, and education related to IDD/ASD

  • Expanding and exchanging knowledge and information about IDD/ASD through research, education, and professional communication

  • Enhancing professional development, education, and the quality of professional services that relate to individuals with IDD/ASD

  • Building partnerships with individuals with IDD/ASD, their families, and professional organizations that represent them to ensure that multiple perspectives are reflected in...
