Definition

Pseudogene” is a  leafconcept of the “ FunctionalityType” concept of identification (generated from the  IDENTIFICATION Axiom) of  IMGT-ONTOLOGY, the global reference in  immunogenetics and  immunoinformatics (Giudicelli and Lefranc 1999; Lefranc et al. 2004, 2005, 2008; Duroux et al. 2008), built by IMGT®, the international ImMunoGeneTics information system® (http://www.imgt.org) ( IMGT® Information System). “Pseudogene” identifies, whatever the molecule type ( MoleculeType), the functionality of  Molecule_EntityType leafconcepts in undefined or germline configuration ( Configuration Type), whose coding region has stop codon(s) and/or frameshift mutation(s), and/or for which a mutation affects the initiation codon (for a conventional or a V gene).

“Pseudogene” is one of the three leafconcepts (the other two being “ Functional” and “ ORF”) that identify the functionality of Molecule_EntityType leafconcepts in undefined configuration ( Configuration Type) (conventional...
