Kierkegaardianism

Perhaps the main representative for Christian existentialism is the Danish philosopher and theologian Søren Aaby Kierkegaard, (1813–1855) whose thinking had a broad but prominent influence on systematic theology, continental philosophy, literature, and arts. Within dogmatics, his thoughts have renewed and inspired both Christology (Karl Barth and Rudolf Bultmann) and Harmatiology (Paul Tillich, Christof Gestrich, and Wolfhart Pannenberg). Also, his view upon ethics and philosophy of religion has been innovative and of considerable importance in the process of rethinking Christianity on postmodern premises. Kierkegaard’s status as founding father of existentialism is well known and recognized as is his concrete influence on Martin Heidegger, Gabriel Marcel, Jean Paul Sartre, and Albert Camus.
