As per sex selection, X-bearing sperms can be separated with reasonably good efficiency from their Y-bearing counterparts with the aid of cell sorters and fluorescent labeling, on the basis of the increased DNA content of X-bearing sperms. This process then can be used in artificial insemination in animal breeding.
