Cryoturbation

Also called frost churning. Cryoturbation is the disruption of a soil by frost action. It results in a mixing of the soil matrix and produces irregular or broken soil horizons, involutions, organic intrusions, organic matter occurrences in the subsoil, oriented rock fragments, silt‐enriched layers, silt caps and oriented microfabrics.
