Abstract

Antidumping laws, targeting export sales below cost-of-production or below the price charged in another market, were introduced at the beginning of the twentieth century and have grown steadily more popular with import-competing businesses, government officials, and commentators. At the end of the century these laws, and proposed extensions of them, threaten competition through international trade more than any other trade restraint.
