Definition
The security part of the JPEG2000 standard, which provides a framework for security solutions for JPEG2000 images.
JPSEC is the Part 8 of the JPEG 2000 family of standards [1]. The bitstream of JPEG2000 coded image are carefully designed to provide many appealing features such as PSNR, resolution and bitrate scalability, random codestream access and processing, etc. This is done by organizing bits in a specific way. A conventional cryptography solution designed without the awareness of such syntax would deplete these desirable features. JPSEC was designed in a way to retain the features required to support most typical applications targeted by JPEG2000. Like an unprotected JPEG2000 stream, the JPSEC bitstream preserves the structures such as tile, layer, resolution, precinct and component.
