A severe clinical drug allergy involving the skin (exanthema), the blood system (massive eosinophilia, > 1.5 G/l), and internal organs (frequently, hepatitis). It is often elicited by anti-epileptic drugs, and occasionally by others such as diltiazem, and sulfonamides. It is mediated by T cells.
