Founded in 1953, The Institute of Management Sciences (TIMS) was an international organization for management science professionals and academics. It was merged with the Operations Research Society of America into the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) effective January 1, 1995. The objectives of TIMS were (1) to identify, extend and unify scientific knowledge contributing to the understanding and practice of management, (2) to promote the development of the management sciences and the free interchange of information about the practice of management among managers, scientists, scholars, students, and practitioners of the management sciences within private and public institutions, (3) to promote the dissemination of information on such topics to the general public, and (4) to encourage and develop educational programs in the management sciences.
