Structural variables

The original variables of a linear-programming problem as differentiated from slack, surplus and artificial variables. Structural variables are usually the variables of interest and have a physical interpretation such as production or shipments. They appear in the original defining inequalities or equations prior to the conversion of the problem to all equations. Linear inequality; Logical variable; Slack variable; Surplus variable.
