Interpretation of science to the general public is one of the main roles of a geopark. The interpretive system usually comprises (1) indoor exhibits, such as a museum and audio-visual theatre; (2) outdoor exhibits, such as interpretive boards and signs that describe the background of the geopark and its attractions, and traffic signs; (3) geopark interpretive messages, scientific guide maps and handbooks, books, audio-visual materials, and printed materials such as maps, booklets, pamphlets and leaflets; and (4) trained interpreters.
