Geoparks require strong management systems to meet their primary goals of conservation, education and sustainable development. In addition to the need for experienced conservation and education personnel, geoparks must also be run by efficient operational, business and tourism management teams. National geoparks in China are typically required to have 3–5 geoscientists (especially geotourism experts), and each global geopark needs 5–8 geoscientists.
