The Archaeozoic Eon currently represents the early stage of the Earth and has a clear geological history. Its time span is from approximately four billion to 2.5 billion years ago. The Archaeozoic Eonothem refers to the rocks that formed during this period, most of which are complex metamorphic rocks. The term Archaeozoic was used earlier than the term Archaean, but for convenience, the latter has been adopted in current stratigraphic charts.
