Geotourism is an emerging type of tourism that focuses on geological and geomorphic landscapes, including the remains of ancient life, minerals, volcanoes, glaciers, earthquakes, deserts, coasts, islands, caves, lakes, rivers, springs, ornamental stones, and gemstones. It is a scientific tourism activity practised to increase the public’s awareness of earth science. With the increase in tourists’ level of education, some tourists have become interested in exploring the geological background of the landscape. The establishment of numerous geoparks has created destinations for this type of tourism, and the establishment and development of tourism earth science has provided theoretical guidance for geotourism. Geological tourism has gradually become an important type of tourism in China and around the world.
