Flower shows are held for flower appreciation. They are common and have a long history in China, Japan and Southeast Asia. For example, Japan hosts the annual Cherry Blossoms Festival, and Guangzhou in China hosts the Ram City Flower Festival. Beijing hosts the Chrysanthemum Show in October every year. These events attract large numbers of tourists to these cities. In recent years, the Peony Flower Festival in Luoyang has become a major tourist attraction in central China.
