An evergreen broadleaf forest is a zone of forest vegetation that develops in the humid monsoon climate zones on the eastern coasts of subtropical mainland regions. It is a type of evergreen arbour vegetation. The tree species mostly include evergreen broadleaf trees such as Polygonaceae, Fagaceae, Magnoliaceae, and Camellia. The plant leaves are mostly leathery, and an undergrowth herb layer is not developed. These areas are rich in animal species. They are mainly located in low mountains, hills, plains and other regions on the southern slopes of the Qinling Mountains, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, Anhui and Jiangsu. A variety of bamboo forests are often located in the evergreen broadleaf forest areas, forming unique landscapes with high ornamental value.
