This geopark is located in northern Ha Giang Province in Vietnam. It has an area of 2.3 km2 and became a member of the Global Geoparks Network in 2010. The karst prairie of the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark consists of at least 80% limestone. The geopark contains 45 landform relics and 33 geological structures, and the sedimentary rock formations contain many fossils that are four to six million years old, of which 26 species were discovered and named for the first time. Many geologic heritage sites have been listed at the national and international level. The unique combination of Dong Van’s karst geological and cultural heritage has created tremendous tourism potential and has attracted many tourists from both home and abroad.
