A desert is a natural landscape in an arid or extremely arid region with little precipitation, strong evaporation, a lack of surface runoff, severe wind-blown erosion and sand and gravel accumulation. Different types of deserts form due to differences in the geological and geographical environments, including sand deserts, gravel deserts, rock deserts, salt deserts and mud deserts.
