Cuihuashan Landslides National Geopark, Shanxi

This geopark is located in Chang’an County, Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, 30 km from Xi’an City. It is a branch of the Zhongnanshan in the Qinling Mountains. It became a national geopark in 2001. The main features of interest are landslide-related geological features. Cuihuashan is in the Qinling Mountains and is composed of Meso-Proterozoic migmatite that were formed due to metamorphism. It contains a large migmatite complex with faults of various types, and it is a natural laboratory for studying migmatite complexes and metamorphism. The intense fracturing, brittleness of the rocks and location in a seismic zone led to the collapse of the mountain, forming a series of impressive landslide features, including landslide cliffs, rock block fields, stacked caves, dammed lakes, rock flow, and other unique rock features.
