Continental glaciers are glaciers in arid inland regions. In these areas, the precipitation is low (less than a few hundred mm), and the snowline is relatively high. The ice temperature is low (−8 to −10 °C), and the glacier movement is characterised by internal surface deformation of ice crystals. The glacier bottom is frozen, and so glacial erosion is rapid. The glacier moves slowly in a stable manner.
