Clastic Rock Pillar Landscape

When eroded by external forces, rocks such as sandy conglomerate can form a type of landform composed of columnar pillars that are several times taller than their width. Rock pillars can be divided into pyramidal pillars, cylindrical pillars, angular pillars, mushroom-like pillars, pagoda-like pillars and pillars of various shapes. These pillars are common features in the Danxia landform and Zhangjiajie landform. They have important aesthetic and ornamental value (Fig. 33).
