This geopark is situated in the area surrounding Chengde (a prefecture-level city in Hebei Province) and the administrative divisions covering Shuangqiao, Shuangluan and Chengde Counties. The park has an area of 48 km2, and the major geological features are concentrated in an area of 24 km2. It became a national geopark in 2011. Sandstone landforms are the key component of the geopark. It also includes landscapes with geological sections, geological structures, palaeontology, water bodies and environmental geological relics. The sandstone landforms are mainly located in the areas of the Jurassic-Cretaceous strata across the Chengde Graben Basins, which cover parts of Shuangqiao, Shuangluan and Chengde Counties. With unique landforms and landscapes, the park has extremely high scientific, aesthetic and tourist value and contains valuable natural heritage.
