Yaoru Lu (1931–) is a native of Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. He graduated from Beijing Institute of Geology (currently China University of Geosciences) in 1952. He is an expert on hydrogeology and environmental geology. He served as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, scientific adviser of the Academy of Tourism Earth Science and Geopark Research Branch, the Geological Society of China. He also worked as a researcher at the Institute of Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, as a professor in the Department of Geotechnical and Underground Engineering at the College of Civil Engineering of Tongji University, as honorary president of Guizhou Normal University, and as a board member of the International Research Centre on Karst (under the auspices of UNESCO).
