Xinglong National Geopark is located in Xinglong County, Hebei Province, and it covers an area of 101 km2. It became a national geopark in 2009. It contains Yanshan geological structures, karsts and granite landforms. The rock mass of Wuling Mountain is a silica-saturated alkaline-peralkaline A-type granite. It is representative of the Late Yanshannian magmatic activity in northern China and is an important record of the tectonic and thermal events associated with the Mesozoic Yanshan intraplate orogenesis. A complete Precambrian black smoker chimney structure was found in this area. Well-preserved oceanic crustal fragments and ophiolites with an age of 2.5 billion years are located in the Mesoproterozoic Xinglong Karst Cave in the Wumishan Formation, which formed 1.4-1 billion years ago. It is a carbonate rock series and is dominated by dolomite that contains siliceous chert nodules and layers. It is a typical percolation or seepage zone cavern.
