Wulongshan National Geopark is located in Longshan County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, and covers an area of 142 km2. It became a national geopark in 2009. It is characterized by karst, Danxia, and fluvial erosion landforms and water landscape. Taiping Mountain is a typical fortress-like Danxia landform. Its peak has an elevation of 642 m, and it is 3–80 m wide and is surrounded by cliffs. The relative elevation reaches 300 m. Potholes have developed in the bed of the Mengdonghe River in Xincheng Country. The Cretaceous red sandstones, pebble sandstones and conglomerates were eroded and formed this landform, which includes waterfalls and karst springs.
