In accordance with the World Heritage Convention, world natural heritage, which is ‘of outstanding universal value, in line with the principles of integrity, and under the management framework of effective protection, refers to the natural heritage inscribed on the World Heritage List after being nominated by state parties to the Convention, inspected and reviewed by experts from IUCN (the World Conservation Union, or the former International Union for Conservation of Nature) specially invited by UNESCO, and finally approved by voting of the World Heritage Committee at its annual session’.
