This site, which is a strip of land stretching some 450 km along the Coral Sea in the Pacific Ocean off Queensland in northeastern Australia, covers a core protection area of 8,944 km2. Its tropical rainforests are home to a particularly extensive and varied array of plants, marsupials, singing birds, and other rare and endangered animals and plant species.
