The Earth’s crust is made up of several plates that collide, and volcanic eruptions are common at the plate edges. For example, molten magma rises due to the movement of the Eurasian Plate, the Philippine Plate and the Pacific Plate, which has led to volcanic eruptions and the formation of volcanic island chains. In addition, in connection with seafloor spreading, magma erupts along mid-ocean ridges.
