Central Highlands, Sri Lanka
This heritage site is located in south-central Sri Lanka. It comprises the Peak Wilderness Reserve, Holton Plains National Park and the Nakola Conservation Forest. The area of these mountain forests reaches an elevation of 2,500 m. It has extremely high biodiversity, including several endangered species, such as western purple-faced langurs, grey lazy monkeys, and Sri Lankan leopards. It is considered an important protection zone for biodiversity.
