Temperate Marine Climate

The temperate climates in the temperate regions of islands and coastal areas are significantly affected by the oceans. They are located mainly on the western coasts at latitudes of 40–60° north and south, such as Western Europe and the long, narrow west coasts of North and South America. The Netherlands, Belgium, and Denmark are typically influenced by ocean air masses with westerly winds that prevail throughout the year, and they are characterized by more rain and smaller temperature variations. The annual rainfall is approximately 700–1,000 mm, which is evenly distributed across the seasons. Temperate deciduous broadleaf forest is the main vegetation.
