Special Animal Community Tourism
Special animal communities in some geographically unique regions attract tourists. The animals may appear as a single community or as comprehensive and integrated animal communities. Animals living in single communities include the Tibetan antelope in Kekemianli, the golden monkey in Shangnan, Shaanxi Province, the snakes on Snake Island near Dalian, the birds of Qinghai Lake in Qinghai and the butterflies in the Butterfly Valley in Taiwan. Examples of comprehensive communities include the well-preserved Late Mesozoic fauna in New Zealand. This is the oldest comprehensive animal community on Earth. After Madagascar detached from the African continent approximately 100 million years ago, the island developed a unique and independent ecosystem, and it has retained animal communities that are supposedly extinct in other regions. They attract large numbers of scientific researchers and tourists.
