Shenzhen Dapeng Peninsula National Geopark, Guangdong

Shenzhen Dapeng Peninsula National Geopark, Guangdong, is located in eastern Shenzhen. It is approximately 50 km from downtown Shenzhen, adjacent to Hong Kong across the sea to the west. It became a national geopark in 2005. The geopark is characterised by Mesozoic volcanoes and coastal depositional landforms. It has several scenic areas, such as Dajiaojia Island, Shuangfengzhou Islet, Qiniangshan Peak, Yangmeikeng Village, Wangmuwei, Dongchong Beach and Xichong Beach. Dapeng Mountain is surrounded on three sides by the ocean and has seven peaks of various shapes. The highest is Qiniangshan Peak, which has an elevation of 869 m. The main features of the geopark are ancient volcanoes and coastal landforms. It also has typical volcanic facies, palaeontological sites (including ancient cultural sites), faults, folds, waterfalls, landslide and rockfall landscapes, and coral reefs.
