Synonym: Dust-floating weather

The wind blows sand and dust to heights above the horizontal line of sight, which significantly reduces the horizontal visibility. Smaller dust particles are suspended in the air and cause horizontal visibilities of less than 10 km. Droughts, deforestation, overgrazing, land desertification, construction, over-development and other human activities are the causes of sand-blowing and dust-floating weather, which cause poor air quality and are hazardous to health.
