Rural geography is the study of the formation, structure, function, development and evolution of rural areas and their spatial distribution. It explores the patterns of development of different economic, social, demographic, settlement, cultural resources and their usage in rural areas. It involves the spatial changes in environmental issues and is a branch of human geography. Rural geography is an important foundation for rural tourism research.
