This is a gem-quality mineral with the chemical composition (Mn, Fe, Ca)5[Si5O15]. It is in the triclinic system with tabular crystals of a massive and granular habit. Its colour is similar to that of peach flowers, and in Chinese, it is also known as peach blossom jade or Peking pastel green. It usually contains black spots and veinlets. The main mining areas include Massachusetts in the United States, the Ural Mountains in Russia and New South Wales in Australia. In China, high-quality rhodonite is mined in Beijing as well as in Shang County in Shaanxi Province, Suzhou in Jiangsu Province and in Qinghai and Sichuan Provinces.
