Regional tourism planning is the overall planning for the development of tourism at different administrative levels (e.g., country, provinces, cities, counties). Its main tasks include researching and determining the status and role of tourism in the regional and national economies, proposing the goals and determining the scale, structure, and arrangement and rate of tourism development, and providing an effective support system for the healthy and sustainable development of tourism. Based on the level of detail, the planning can be further categorized as strategic planning of regional tourism development, master planning of regional tourism development and general management planning of regional tourism activities.
