Synonym: Red soil

High temperature and humidity in mid-subtropical regions allow rapid desilication and bio-enrichment, which facilitate the formation of red soil. Red soils are acidic to very acidic and rich in iron-aluminium oxides. They can be found in the vast lowlands and hilly areas south of the Yangtze River and at approximately 24–32° N. The soil is characterized by its viscosity, infertile nature, acidity and dryness.
