This geopark is located in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, with the Bohai Sea to the south and Yanshan to the north. It became a national geopark in 2002. It features palaeontological fossils, stratigraphic profiles, and karst and granite landforms. The stratigraphic section has clear boundaries, rich fossils and well-developed sedimentary structures. Additional geological relics are abundant, including three major rock types, various geological structures, folds and faults of various sizes and forms as well as river terraces, sea erosion and marine deposits. The geopark is a good place for geotechnical geology fieldtrips and studies and for the popularisation of geoscience knowledge to the public.
