Poyang Lake Landscape

Poyang Lake is China’s largest freshwater lake and is the second largest lake in China after Qinghai Lake. It is located in northern Jiangxi Province on the south bank of the Changjiang (Yangtze River) in the cities and townships of Nanchang, Xinjian, Jinxian, Yugan, Poyang, Douchang, Hukou, Jiujiang, Xingzi, De’an and Yongxiu. The lake basin formed due to crustal subsidence and continuous deposition. Due to the influence of the warm and wet southeastern monsoon climate, Poyang Lake has an annual precipitation of 1,636 mm, and the weather is colloquially described as ‘green grass in the wetland and yellowish plums in misty rain’. It is a famous land of plenty in China. The environment and climatic conditions are suitable for the wintering of migratory birds.
