Porphyrite is an intermediate extrusive or hypabyssal rock with a porphyritic texture. Typical examples are dioritic porphyrite and andesitic porphyrite. A type of dioritic porphyrite associated with iron ore is present in the Wuhu area, and its discovery has promoted the formulation of the porphyrite iron ore model.
