This geopark is located in Huangsongyu County, Pingdu District, Beijing, and it became a national geopark in 2009. The main geological features are quartzite landforms consisting of the Mesoproterozoic Great Wall Formation, the unconformity between the Proterozoic and Archean Eonothems, Mesoproterozoic breccia, the remains of palaeovolcanoes, karst caves and stratigraphic remains. The quartzite landforms are typical of the semi-arid area of northern China. The Changzhou trench strata of the Mesoproterozoic Great Wall Formation are not integrated into the Mesozoic gneiss. Jingdong Cave has an area of more than 20,000 m2 and is more than 2,500 m long; The geopark contains a relatively complete set of the Mesoproterozoic Great Wall Formation.
